Concept of slow travel

We are The Blonde Nomads – Rob, Tracy, Marli and Ziggy – a travelling family from Australia who love to share our adventures via our blog www.theblondenomads.com.au as well as our social media accounts @theblondenomads. With a busy 4 year old and a 1.5 year old we like to embrace the concept of ‘slow travel’. Having kids makes you appreciate the small things while on the road like paying attention to what you see on your journey as well as the destination.

You have an unlimited travel budget for 24 hours. Give me your itinerary.
mmm.. As we’d would have our mini blondies travelling with us I think we would have to stay within Australia! We would use a private jet to fly us to a private tropical island where we would enjoy a day together searching for beach treasure, swimming with all the magical sea creatures like turtles, rays and whale sharks and eat all the tropical fruit we could eat! Then while the kids have some down time we can have a massage on the beach in the shade of a coconut palm. As the sun sets we can all relax and sleep under the stars together – bug free, listening to the ocean with a warm breeze.

You have won the lottery. Tell me where you want to live.
Again, we would probably choose a secluded tropical island somewhere – then we would fly our friends and family over to visit when they wanted a holiday in paradise with us!

Your favorite travel resource on the web?
We’d have to say Instagram!! It is an amazing catalogue for travel inspiration, insider tips and a great way to connect with fellow travellers or locals to help you get the most out of your adventure. We have met some amazing people via our Instagram account @theblondenomads and some lasting friendships.

What is the superpower you most want?
Teleportation! To be able to ‘magic’ yourself to a destination would be amazing, and so much easier when travelling with kids!!

What’s fuels your passion for travel?
We both grew up taking holidays and camping trips with our families so the love of travel and nature was introduced to us at a young age. Now that we have mini adventurers of our own we love to share as much as we can together as a family, especially while the kids are young. To see the excitement and pure joy on their little faces when they see something for the first time is so rewarding.

Why do you write?
We love sharing our adventure stories to help encourage others to get out and travel more – especially if they have young kids.

Do your family and friends support your traveling escapades?
Yes. It is always hard to be away from our family and friends when we travel but thanks to technology and the internet we stay in touch a lot!

What is the title of the movie about your life?
The Blonde Nomads – life’s an adventure do it now!!

What’s on your bucket list?
Soo many places in Australia and abroad – Bali, Hawaii, Back to Vanuatu. Road tripping all of Western Australia, making it up to top of Australia to Cape York, Christmas Island, Lord Howe Island.. there is a long list…

Can you imagine life without travel?
No thank you!

If you were not travelling what would you be doing instead?
Living on a large property somewhere in the bush away from crowds with some animals and a dam.

If you could be transported to one place at one time, what would it be and why?
Oh thats a though one… we need more time to think about that one…

Single thing you miss most from high school?
Ah, the carefree days of no adult responsibilities – and being able to sleep in on the weekends!!

Do you have any advice or tips for aspiring travellers?
Yes – we have loads of tips on website – especially regarding travelling as a family.

Your single most treasured personal possession.
Besides our kids – our photos and home movies of our adventures together.

Language you’d most like to be fluent in?
